We at Smith Financial Group know and understand that every one, every family and every business is unique, as are their financial and life goals. In order to provide the most personalized and unique client experience with the least amount of conflict as possible it is essential to understand that there are many options to meet these planning and investing needs.
Fee Only Planning and Services
Smith Financial Group offers two basic types of flat fee only services…flat and hourly fee.
Flat fee and hourly fee services are typically available for those who are looking to build a road map for their financial life and are purchasing and/or holding their investments elsewhere. Services include retirement plan reviews (IRA, ROTH, 401k, Business Retirement Plans, etc), portfolio and second opinion reviews, financial and holistic planning, as well as special consulting projects.
Asset-Based Investment Management
This option tends to align adviser/client interests and may be appropriate for someone seeking an actively managed financial life relationship with Smith Financial Group. You will not incur any further commissions, ticket charges or account administration fees with our asset-based investment management and we will provide ongoing guidance pertaining to non-investment aspects of your planning at no additional charge.
Options that are available include traditional advisory accounts, asset-based advisory accounts (a.k.a. “wrap-accounts”), custom-designed mutual fund and/or ETF model portfolios and separately managed accounts using outside money management firms. Smith Financial Group’s asset-based fee platform is provided through the registered investment advisor arm of LPL Financial serving as the custodian for all client assets.
Traditional Brokerage Services
As the financial industry continues it’s shift towards asset-based management and fee-only planning, we find that for certain investors and circumstances there is still a significant need and perhaps more optimal option in the traditional transaction-based brokerage services.
Through LPL Financial, Smith Financial Group offers clients access to a full range of investment products including stocks, bonds, FDIC insured certificates of deposit, mutual funds, and variable annuities. Since Smith Financial Group is typically compensated on a transaction or commission basis in traditional brokerage accounts, Smith Financial Group strives to explain as clearly and transparently as possible the fees, commissions, and expenses associated with each transaction, and how it is compensated for such trades.
Qualitative guidance pertaining to the non-investment aspects of each client’s financial position is considered incidental to the client relationship and is included at no additional charge. Brokerage accounts are provided to Smith Financial Group clients through LPL Financial, a FINRA registered broker/dealer and FINRA member. LPL Financial also serves as the custodian for all client assets.
